New year, its time for darts

Before we head in to the darts round up, I hope you had a great Christmas and all have a happy and healthy New Year. This weeks blog is a double week round up, as many have you seen i have had some family illness that has taken a lot of my spare time. Thanks for all you kind comments and understanding during this period.

Also, over the next week I would hope that I will be able to confirm dates and venues for the end of season knockouts, I just need to firm up with the rest of the committee and also I dont want to clash with the ladies league presentation which is the last Friday in April.

Ok, on with the darts.

Over the last two weeks division one has opened up a little, with the four sides now within two points of each other. The previously unbeaten Bull A beat the Bull B 7-2, but lost last week to the Dewdrop Oast 5-4. This result means that the Diamond have moved to top spot, as they beat the Phoenix 8-1 and the Hairy Bull 6-3.

The Old Endeavour have had two wins, they beat the Boars Head Arrows and the DWMC, 7-2 victories against them both.

Before the Hairy Bulls defeat against the Diamond they beat the Boars Head C 8-1. The Bull B lost their two matches, one against the Bull A and a 6-3 defeat against the Phoenix Maddogs, who bounced back from that defeat against the Diamond.

The Dewdrops win against the Bull followed a 5-4 win against the Boars Head Arrows who have lost two on the bounce.

The DWMC bounced back from the defeat against the Old E with a 8-1 win against the Real Diamonds.

Over the last two weeks there has been 180s in division one from, Simon Scott of the Phoenix, Andy Smith of the Dewdrop, Al Terry of the Old Endeavour, Tony Earl of the DWMC, and Blake Manton of the Arrows. Checkouts over a ton were hit by Mick Mendham, 120 of the Dewdrop, Steven Roberts, 100 of the Dewdrop, and Jimmy Yarwood, 104 of the Real Diamonds.

In division two the Three Cups are still unbeaten, they have beaten the Boars Head B 7-2 and the Diamond C 5-4. They are still only two points clear though at the top of the table, the Crown & Sceptre have only lost the once. Over the last two weeks they have beaten the DSAA hope 5-4 and the Phoenix Rising 5-4.

Another in form side are the Admiral Harvey A, they beat the Boars Head B and the Carriers 6-3, they remain third in the table.

A mixed fortnight for the Admiral Harvey B, they beat the Bull Dogs 5-4 but lost to the Carriers 6-3.

Tilmanstone have lost both their post xmas matches, both 6-3. These defeats were against the Diamond C and the DSAA Hope. The Boars Head A have had couple of wins on the bounce, winning 5-4 against the Phoenix Rising and the Bull Dogs. That is their fifth win on the bounce, all of which have been 5-4.

Over the lat two weeks in division two there has been just the one 180, Luke Blythe of the Three Cups. Ton plus checkouts have been hit by Pete Phillips, 113 Admiral Harvey, 149 from Luke Blythe of the Three Cups, 108 from Lynda Hayden also of the Cups and 100 from Conor Barnes of the Boars Head B.

In to division three, the Hairy Crown are top, but are no longer unbeaten. They lost 5-4 against the Northern Diamonds, but did a 9-0 and the Sea Lions. The Northern Diamonds also beat the Crown Smiffys 5-4 and sit joint top of the table with the Hairy and the Carriers.

The Carriers have now won seven games in a row, this amazing run included 5-4 wins against the Phoenix C and the Old Endeavour.

The Crown Smiffys beat the Sportsman 7-2, but the Sportsman bounced back with a 5-4 against the DSAA Misfits. Not a good fortnight for the Misfits, they also against the Phoenix St Pauls 6-3. The Phoenix C were another side that had a mixed fortnight, the did lose to the inform Carriers, but beat the Nelson 5-4 this week. The previous week the Nelson beat the DSAA C 5-4.

Phoenix St Pauls did win followed their win against Misfits with a 7-2 win against the DSAA C.

Shane May of the Phoenix St Pauls hit a 180 in his sides win this week.

I hope I have captured all your 180s and big checkouts, if not my apologies in advance.

Week 7 – Xmas Break

Its the final round of fixtures before the Xmas Break, and this week was the week of ton plus checkouts, with them recorded in every division.

In division three the Carriers have gone five wins on the bounce, this win against the DSAA C puts them joint second with the Nelson and the Northern Diamonds. Highlight of the match was the 126 checkout from Dave Hamshare of the Carriers. Thats this biggest checkout so far this season in that division.

The Hairy Crown are top of the league, they beat the Old Endeavour 9-0, the Nelson were 9-0 winners after a no show from the DSAA Misfits and the Northern Diamonds were 6-3 winners against the Sportsman. Paul Culley of the northern Diamonds checked out on 116.

The Sea Lions were 6-3 winners against the Phoenix C, a result which moves them above their opponents on the night.

With division two I will start with a couple highlights missed from last week, Tom and Margaret Sullivan both hit 180s for the Diamond C and Mike Matthews of the Three Cups checked out on 113.

This week the Three Cups continued with their winning run, they beat the Admiral Harvey A 6-3. They sit two points clear of the Crown & Sceptre who beat the Diamond C 7-2.

The Bull Dogs beat the Carriers B 6-3 and the Admiral Harvey B made it two wins in a row with a 5-4 win against the Phoenix Rising.

After a very sluggish start to the season the Boars Head A have now three games in a row, they beat the DSAA Hope 5-4.

Main highlights on the night in division two was a couple of 180s, one a piece for Louis Pearson and Marc Thorp.

Into division one, and the Bull A reach Christmas unbeaten, They beat the Diamond 5-4, and to say it went to the last game of the match doesn’t really give it justice. Final game, one leg all, both players leave double 10, Andy Howell wins the match for the Bull, beating George Clark. The match included a 156 checkout for Paul Turner.

There were two 9-0s on the night, the Boars Head Arrows beat the Bull B, Blake Manton checked out on 119 for the Arrows. Ben Cooper of the Old Endeavour hit a 180 in their 9-0 win against the Real Diamonds.

After a couple of defeats on the bounce the Boars Head C beat the Phoenix Maddogs 6-3, the Boars now have a four point gap between them and their opponents on the night.

The DWMC B cracking season continues, they beat the Dewdrop Oast 5-4, Bob Oliver and John Ross both hit 180s.

There are no matches this Friday, however on Thursday the Three Cups are holding another money in money out knockout, 7.30 start.

Week 6

This week I start with some sad news for the League, long standing player and most of all our Friend, Tommy Bell has passed away. Tommy would have been seen on the oche with his brother Billy, and in recent years whilst not playing so much would always be at matches and knockouts watching the darts.

Our thoughts are with all the family at this time, rest in peace our friend Tommy.

We will start this weeks darts roundup in division two. The Three Cups had a cracking 9-0 win against the Carriers to remain unbeaten, it was great night for the Cups, as the only other side unbeaten, Diamond C, lost 5-4 against the Boars Head A.

This means that the Crown & Sceptre and the Admiral Harvey A are now on 10 points like the Diamond C. The Harvey A beat Tilmanstone 6-3 and the Crown & Sceptre beat the Boars Head B by the same margin.

The Phoenix Rising beat the Bull Dogs 5-4, the Risings form has been rather stop start, with their form being, Loss, Win, Loss, Win, Loss, Win. Will the pattern change against the Admiral Harvey B this coming Friday, The Harvey B beat the DSAA hope 5-4 this week.

Martin Lucas of the Boars Head B was the only player to hit a 180 in division two on the night.

In division one the Bull A are still unbeaten, they beat the Boars Head C 7-2. There was a 180 each for Jim Fenton and Andy Howell. They are the only side unbeaten, the previously unbeaten Dewdrop Oast lost 7-2 against the Old Endeavour, Tony Lewis hit a 180 for the Oast.

The Bull have a game in hand on the Diamond, they beat the Boars Head Arrows 6-3 this week. Paul Clennell, Brian Pearce and Steve Clark all hit 180s in the match.

Biggest Winners on the night were the DWMC B, they won 9-0 against the Bull B. The Hairy Bull were also heavy winners, they beat the Real Diamonds 8-1. Graham Gosling hit a 180 for the Hairy, and his team mates Dean Marsh and Martin McNeill checked out on 130 and 101 respectively.

In division three there was a 180 for Sharon Lees of the DSAA Misfits, however her side did lose 5-4 against the inform Carriers A.

Top of the shop Hairy Crown were 8-1 winners against the Phoenix C, they are two pints clear of the chasing pack.

There were two 7-2 wins in the division, the Sea Lions beat the the DSAA C and the Nelson A beat the Crown Smiffys. The Sportsman had their first win of the season, they beat the Phoenix St Pauls 5-4 and finally the Northern Diamonds beat the Old Endeavour 6-3.

Couple of notes from last week, Adam Wetherell hit a 180 for the Nelson and a correction on the Tony Clark checkout was 118 not 116.
