115.5 Average and a 170 checkout, what a week!

Sometimes you look at the darts that have been thrown in our league and you think to yourself, oh my god, what a standard that really is. This week was one of those weeks!

In division one, The Bull A lost to the Diamond 6-3, another twist at top of division one. The match was superb and the absolute highlight for me was two legs from Wayne Venes, 12 darts and 14 darts with 2 x 180s and a 129 checkout. That is an amazing 115.61 average over the two legs and his opponent Lee Ware was sitting on checkouts in both legs. I would actually say that is the best performance over two legs I have ever seen in our league because both players were superb.

The Dewdrop Oast beat the DWMC B 6-3, Steve Roberts checked out on 106 and the Boars Head C were 7-2 winners against the Phoenix Maddogs. Jason Davey and Mick Law both hit 180s in this match.

Kyle Manton hit a 180 in the Boars Head Arrows 6-3 win against the Bull B and the Old Endevour were handed a 9-0 by the Real Diamonds.

The Admiral Harvey A were 5-4 winners against the previously unbeaten Three Cups, Louis Pearson hit a 180 for the Harvey. However, the star of the show was definitely Billy Bristow of the Cups, he checked out on 170. Well done Billy!

The Crown & Sceptre have moved to top of the table, they won 5-4 against the Diamond C. They have played one game more than the Cups though.

DSAA Hope picked up a rare win, a 5-4 against the Boars Head A, wasnt all bad news for the division two Boars Head sides, the B side won 6-3 against Tilmanstone.

The Admiral Harvey B won 7-2 against the Phoenix Rising and the Carriers B had a 9-0 against the Bull Dogs.

In to division three, and the Hairy Crown beat the Old Endeavour 7-2 and the Northern Diamonds won 5-4 against the Sportsman. These two sides are joint top at the moment and play each on Friday.

The Carriers excellent season continued, a 7-2 win against the DSAA C and the Phoenix St Pauls were 5-4 winners against the Crown Smiffys.

In the final game of the night the Nelson beat the DSAA Misfits 6-3, Archie Dryden checked out on 113 for the Nelson.

Business end of the season!

Why are now entering the business end of the season, where every game in every match is important and can make the difference of promotion or relegation.

I will start this week in division two and our leaders and championship favorites the Three Cups. They won 8-1 against the Carriers, Jack Isaacs of the Carriers hit a 180.

There were three 180s in the match between the Admiral Harvey A and the Tilmanstone Club, Wayne Anderton and Kelvin Pearson of the Harvey and Mark Golding of Tilmanstone. The Harvey ran out 8-1 winners.

Good news for the Harvey boys, the B side were 7-2 winners against the DSAA Hope, a result that should make them safe in division two for another season, unless they have a disaster end.

The Diamond C beat the Boars Head A 6-3, Colin Townley of the Diamond and Terry Mcconnell of the Boars Head both hit 180s.

Second placed Crown & Sceptre were 7-2 against the Boars Head B and last but not least the Bull Dogs beat Phoenix Rising 6-3.

I thought this week we could have a look at some alternate league tables for each division.

In to division three we go.

The leaders, Hairy Crown were 9-0 winners against the Phoenix C and the second placed Northern Diamonds were 7-2 winners against the Old Endeavour.  The amazing run for the Northern Diamonds continues and it does look at the moment that the championship winners could well be decided on the 23rd March when the top twp sides play each other.

Out side of this top two the Carriers are having a cracking season, losing just the three games to date.  Form like that would normally give you a cracking shout for promotion, whilst it is not out of reach yet it is looking tough though.   You never know, this weeks 5-4 win against the DSAA Misfits certainly shows they are still fighting.

The Nelson were 8-1 winners against the Crown Smiffys and the Sportsman picked up a 6-3 win against the Phoenix St Pauls.

They were not the only 9-0 winners, DWMC beat the Bull B who are still looking for their first win of the campaign.

The leaders the Bull A won 7-2 against the Boars Head C and Dewdrop Oast won 5-4 against the Old Endeavour to add another twist to the top of division one.

Finally the Diamond beat the Boars Head Arrows 7-2, Mark Clayton checked out on 104 for the Diamond and Kyle Manton hit a 180 for the Arrows.

Looking at stats I could pull from the tables etc I make it that there has been 276 matches so far this season, that equates to 2,484 games in the matches and a potential 7,452 legs.  Of the 2,484 games Mark Clayton of the Diamond has chalked one, which 0.04% of all the games in the league.  If you were there to see this, cherish the moment, its rare!

Snow week

As there was a fluttering of snow this week we had a fair few games that were cancelled due to teams being unable to field a side.  Whilst it is our desire to try and get these games completed before the end of the season, we understand that it is difficult for some sides to struggle to do that as the team can only get together on a Friday.

Therefore, if you cannot play the game before the end of the season we suggest that you use the 27th April scheduled spare week which clashes with the ladies league presentation.  If you are using that date, please can you make sure that you notify your league representative.  Please also remember the free week is also used to to clarify winners, runners up and those that are relegated in the case of a tie in the league.  Rule 15. League table will be based on points won in the season. If tied in any position the team who is won the most amount of games throughout the season will be in the higher position. If still tied and the position in the league is a Prize Wining/relegation position then a one Match playoff will be played at a neutral venue officiated by the committee.

In division one there was just the one fixture played, the Hairy Bull beat the Phoenix Maddogs 9-0, Mick Law of the Phoenix hit a 180.

From division two we lost two matches.   The Diamond C beat the Admiral Harvey B 6-3 and the Boars Head B picked up a rare win, a  5-4 against the Boars Head A.

The Crown and Sceptre continue their good form and stay second, they beat the Admiral Harvey A 6-3 and are now four points clear of their closest rivals.

Division three is still between the Hairy Crown and the Northern Diamonds for the title.  Hairy won 9-0 and the Northern Diamonds made it 15 wins on the bounce with a 6-3 win against the Phoenix St Pauls.

The Phoenix C were 7-2 winners against the Old Endeavour and the Sportsman were 5-4 winners against the Nelson.
