Business end of the season!

Why are now entering the business end of the season, where every game in every match is important and can make the difference of promotion or relegation.

I will start this week in division two and our leaders and championship favorites the Three Cups. They won 8-1 against the Carriers, Jack Isaacs of the Carriers hit a 180.

There were three 180s in the match between the Admiral Harvey A and the Tilmanstone Club, Wayne Anderton and Kelvin Pearson of the Harvey and Mark Golding of Tilmanstone. The Harvey ran out 8-1 winners.

Good news for the Harvey boys, the B side were 7-2 winners against the DSAA Hope, a result that should make them safe in division two for another season, unless they have a disaster end.

The Diamond C beat the Boars Head A 6-3, Colin Townley of the Diamond and Terry Mcconnell of the Boars Head both hit 180s.

Second placed Crown & Sceptre were 7-2 against the Boars Head B and last but not least the Bull Dogs beat Phoenix Rising 6-3.

I thought this week we could have a look at some alternate league tables for each division.

In to division three we go.

The leaders, Hairy Crown were 9-0 winners against the Phoenix C and the second placed Northern Diamonds were 7-2 winners against the Old Endeavour.  The amazing run for the Northern Diamonds continues and it does look at the moment that the championship winners could well be decided on the 23rd March when the top twp sides play each other.

Out side of this top two the Carriers are having a cracking season, losing just the three games to date.  Form like that would normally give you a cracking shout for promotion, whilst it is not out of reach yet it is looking tough though.   You never know, this weeks 5-4 win against the DSAA Misfits certainly shows they are still fighting.

The Nelson were 8-1 winners against the Crown Smiffys and the Sportsman picked up a 6-3 win against the Phoenix St Pauls.

They were not the only 9-0 winners, DWMC beat the Bull B who are still looking for their first win of the campaign.

The leaders the Bull A won 7-2 against the Boars Head C and Dewdrop Oast won 5-4 against the Old Endeavour to add another twist to the top of division one.

Finally the Diamond beat the Boars Head Arrows 7-2, Mark Clayton checked out on 104 for the Diamond and Kyle Manton hit a 180 for the Arrows.

Looking at stats I could pull from the tables etc I make it that there has been 276 matches so far this season, that equates to 2,484 games in the matches and a potential 7,452 legs.  Of the 2,484 games Mark Clayton of the Diamond has chalked one, which 0.04% of all the games in the league.  If you were there to see this, cherish the moment, its rare!

Week 14

Week 14 of the Dover Invitation Darts League, and the leagues really are taking some shape. Ill start the round up in division three, with the Northern Diamonds, who continue their amazing winning streak. They are unbeaten since the opening game of the season, that’s thirteen wins on the bounce. This week it was a 5-4 win against the Nelson.

They sit second in the table though, as the Hairy Crown have a superior game difference thanks to those heavy wins they have been picking up, including an 8-1 win this week against the Crown Smiffys.

The Carriers A are another side that are playing well, the beat the Phoenix St Pauls 5-4, and the DSAA Misfits picked up just their second win of the season with a 5-4 win against the Old Endeavour.

In division two the Three Cups won 5-4 against the Boars Head A, they remain unbeaten but are closely followed by the Crown & Sceptre who won 7-2 against Tilmanstone.

The battle of the Harvey went in favour of the Admiral Harvey A, they were 6-3 winners. Fourth placed Diamond C were 6-3 winners against the Phoenix Rising. Mike Cartwright of the Bull Dogs checked out on 100 in their 5-4 win against the Boars Head B and finally in division two the Carriers were 5-4 winners against the DSAA Hope.

Into division one, and there was a couple of heavy wins. The Hairy Bull beat the Boars Head Arrows 8-1 and the Bull A beat the Phoenix Maddogs by the same score.

Graham Gosling checked out on 115 and 124 for the Hairy, if both those were in his singles you have got to feel for his opponent.

Craig Morton hit two 180s for the Bull B and Simon Lee also hit won for the Real Diamonds, the Real Diamonds ran out 5-4 winners with Kerry Burdett winning the final game of the match.

Paul Turner hit his fifth 180 of the season in the Diamonds 5-4 win against the Dewdrop Oast, Tommy Armstrong checked out a nice 108 for the Dewdrop.

Last but not least, the Old Endeavour won 7-2 against the Boars Head C.

Second half of season, here we come!

The turnaround of the season is here, and there is plenty play for in all the divisions.

In division one the Diamond and the Bull A picked up wins moved two points clear at the top of the table, the Diamond beat the Real Diamonds 6-3 and the Bull A beat Boars Head Arrows by the same margin. The Old Endeavour who were top lost 6-3 against the Hairy Bull and the Dewdrop who were also joint top with the other three had a bye this week.

These three games had 180s from Brian Pearce, Mark Clayton, Phil Hayes, Jim Yarwood, Ash Battie, Kev Hackett, Tony Selby, Dave Heath and Paul Kermode. There was also a 154 checkout for John Hughes of the Old Endeavour, the second highest of the season so far.

The Dwmc B beat the Phoenix Maddogs 5-4, Martin Sammonds hit a 180 and the Boars Head C beat the Bull B 5-4.

Whilst the scoreline in these games were different, all division one matches were won by the same team from the first game of the season.

The Three Cups of division two were 8-1 winners against the Bull Dogs, as always if you the only person to lose the team like to name and shame, so if you didnt know, it was JAMIE BREEDEN .

Second placed Crown & Sceptre beat the Boars Head A 7-2, their first defeat in seven games. The Admiral Harvey A were also 7-2 winners, they beat the Phoenix Rising. Fourth placed Diamond C beat the Carriers B 5-4, the same score as Tilmanstone against the Admiral Harvey B.

The Boars Head B picked up a much needed win, they beat the DSAA Hope 7-2.

Bob Barrington and Shaun Breeden both hit 180s for the Admiral Harvey B, and compared to the first week of the season, Tilmanstone’s win against the Admiral Harvey A and the Boars Head B win against the DSAA hope were the only games that had different winners on the night.

In to division three, we have some disappointing news that the Sea Lions have pulled out of the league. Rule 16 has now been applied.

16. If any team withdraws from the league during the first half of the season then all results including that team, including 180s and 100+ will be removed from standings. If team pulls out in second half of season, only those game after the turn around will be removed from standings.

On with those that did play though.

The Hairy Crown are top of the shop, they had a cracking 9-0 win against the Phoenix St Pauls. Luke Kennett hit a 180 and Jack Gealer checked out on 109 for the Hairy.

The Northern Diamonds have now gone eleven games unbeaten, there last defeat was against the Carriers A, who they beat this week 6-3.

The Old Endeavour won 5-4 against the Sportsman, all on the last game of the match. Sam Arbon won the important final game.

DSAA Misfits also won 5-4, this was there first win of the season which obviously means that was a reverse of the first half of the season.

Finally the Phoenix C beat the Crown Smiffys 5-4.

Happy darting people!
