Week 10 – Plus end of season knockout news.

So we are one week away from the turn around of the season, and the leagues are really taking shape for an exciting second half of the campaign.

Top of division three are the Hairy Crown and the Northern Diamonds.  The Hairy beat the Carriers 5-4, the Carriers were on that amazing winning run.  The match included 180s from Malcolm Graham and Paul Stow.  This defeat puts Carriers only two points of the top spot, so they are in the running and will be tough to beat in the second half of the campaign.

The Norther Diamonds picked up a 9-0 against the Sea Lions and the Nelson beat the Old Endeavour 5-4, the Nelson are third in the standings.

The battle at the phoenix went in favour of the C side, they beat the Phoenix St Pauls 6-3 and the Sportsman pciked a much needed win, they beat the DSAA C 6-3.  The DSAA Misfits also lost, they are still looking for a win this season.  This latest defeat was a 6- against the Crown Smiffys.

The Three Cups winning streak continues, they beat the DSAA Hope 7-2, second placed Crown are four points behind them and they beat the Bull Dogs 5-4.

The Admiral Harvey A and the Diamond C are third and fourth.  The Diamond beat the Harvey A 6-3 this week, both these sides are on the hunt for promotion, maybe too much to ask for them to catch the Cups, but second place will be in their sights.

It wasn’t a good night for the Harvey, the B Side lost 7-2 against the inform Boars Head A.  Maybe the bad start to the season will be their downfall, but the Boars Head will be thinking if they can stay on this run they also have a real outside chance of pushing for promotion.

Tilmanstone picked up their second win of the season, they beat the Phoenix Rising 5-4 and finally the Carriers B had a strong 7-2 win against the Boars Head B.

You know when your side has been on a bad run, results are posted on Facebook with a “Real Diamonds won a game!!!!”, they beat the Boars Head C 5-4 and Simon Lee hit a 180.  They are now four points clear of bottom spot, the Bull B occupy this at the moment and are yet to win a match.  They lost 8-1 against the Hairy Bull this week, there was a 180 for Ryan Short, he also hit a 100 checkout.  Carl Booker checked out on 121, as did Dave Heath in a 12 dart leg.

The Dewdrop Oast were 7-2 winners against the Phoenix Maddogs, Mick Law of the Maddogs checked out on 132.  Martin Sammonds of the DWMC hit a 102 checkout, they beat the Boars Head Arrows 7-2.

And last of all the Old Endeavour beat the Bull A 5-4. making the top of division one at this moment in time tied with four teams.  The Old Endeavour, Diamond, Bull A and the Dewdrop.  The first three of them are only split by one game, this jst goes to show that every game in every match is important.

This big match included a 180 for Paul Perkins and a 105 checkout for Gary Mills.

I now have some dates for your diaries, we are trying a change of venue for the singles and presentation this season, many of you fed back to the committee you don’t attend because of this being at Whitfield and the additional cost of getting too and through.  Therefore, we are trying something new, also allowing for a free week as the ladies Wednesday league presentation and any potential ties in the league campaign.
