Week 4

First of all this week, a message from the Malvern.

Could division one sides who have a bye each week please consider playing the old MALVERN side in a friendly. They are seeking to rejoin the league in the new year. Also, if any games are cancelled from any divisions during the week of match, please also consider a friendly. Please contact Colin Caley.

The Bull A of division one of the league are the only side with a 100% winning start to the league campaign. They beat the Hairy Bull 7-2. There was three 180s in the match, one a piece for Ryan Short, Tony Selby and Carl Booker, plus there was two nice ton plus checkouts. A 122 for Kevan Hackett and a 115 for Alan Katreiber.

Not quite as good for the Bull B though, they are the only side without a win, they lost 7-2 against the Dewdrop Oast. Mick Mendham hit a 180 and Steve Roberts checked out on 102, both for the Dewdrop.

The Dewdrop sit level on points with the Diamond in third position, they do also have a game in hand. This week the Diamond were 5-4 winners against the Old Endeavour.

The DWMC B tasted defeat for the first time, they lost 5-4 against the Boars Head C. Jim Fenton checked out on 104 for the Boars Head. The newly promoted side have picked up two wins out of four, a fairly decent start to life in the top flight.

In the final game of division one, the Phoenix Maddogs picked up their first win of the season, they beat the Real Diamonds 5-4.

In division two we still have two sides with a 100% winning record, if you remember last week there was four sides unbeaten but one record was going to go. It was the Crown & Sceptre that lost that record, they were beaten 5-4 against the Three Cups.

So the Cups keep their winning run going, as dot he Admiral Harvey A and the Diamond. The Harvey A beat the Boars Head A 6-3 and the Diamond C beat the Bull Dogs 5-4. Warran Kingsnorth hit a 180 for the Bull Dogs.

It was a good week for the Admiral Harvey B as well, they won 7-2 against the Boars Head B, Michael Barnes hit a 180 for the Boars Head. Like the A side from the Boars Head, they are still looking for a win this season. The Phoenix Rising beat the DSAA Hope 6-3 and finally the Carriers b won 5-4 against Tilmanstone, another side who have o=won half their games in the higher division.

In division three the Hairy Crown are top, four wins on the bounce. They beat the DSAA Misfits 7-2.

The Old Endeavour were again handed a 9-0 win, whilst the Phoenix C lost for the first time, 5-4 against the Northern Diamonds. Jim Chalmers was on form, hitting a 180, the first of the season in division three.

In fourth place are the Carriers A, they beat the Sportsman A who are looking for their first win of the season. The Nelson are fifth, they beat the Phoenix St Pauls 5-4.

And finally the Sea Lions, which I think I should clarify as few people have asked now, are playing from the Angling Club. They beat the Crown Smiffys 6-3, thats their second win of the season.

Enjoy your arrows this week!

Week 3 – Blog

Week 3, and we are going start this weeks round up in division three.

The Hairy Crown and The Phoenix C are the only two sides in the division unbeaten, the Hairy were handed a 9-0 this week, whilst the Phoenix C beat the DSAA C 6-3. They are top of the tree with a superior leg difference.

Elena Dimitrijeva is the first player of the season in division three to hit a ton plus checkout, her 112 for the Nelson was in the 5-4 defeat against the Northern Diamonds.

The Old Endeavour are sitting third, they beat the DSAA Misfits 5-4, the same scoreline as the Carriers A against the Phoenix St Pauls. This match was decided on the final game of the match.

In the final game of the week in division three the Sea Lions picked up their first win of the season, they beat Sportsman 6-3.

In division two we still have four side unbeaten. Diamond C, Admiral Harvey A, Crown & Sceptre and the Three Cups.

The Diamond C beat the Phoenix Rising 8-1, Teresa Brown was the only loser for the Diamond, but unfortunately nobody told me who was the only winner for the Rising, so well done whoever you are!

The Admiral Harvey A beat the Admiral Harvey B 7-2, Ray Whatmore hit a 180 for the Harvey. This was the first of three 180s in the division on the night, Michelle Galvin hit one for the Crown & Sceptre in their 6-3 win against Tilmanstone. Mike Matthews hit one for the Three Cups in their 5-4 win against the Boars Head A.

The Bull Dogs beat the Boars Head B 7-2 and the Carriers B had a nice 6-3 win against the DSAA Hope, their first win in division two.

There are only two sides in the division without a win, the two Boars Head Sides, something that will change at the latest on the 1st December when the two sides meet. Either the Crown and Sceptre or the Three Cups will lose their 100% record this week, they play each other at the Crown.

In division one, the Bull A are top of the table, they beat the phoenix Maddogs 7-2 this week, Josh Hackett hit a 180. Second placed Hairy Bull won 8-1 against the Boars Head Arrows, Dave Heath checked out on 127.

The Dewdrop beat the Diamond 5-4, there was a 180 for Adam Cork in this nip and tuck match that could have gone either way, not all bad news for the Diamond though, the Real Diamonds picked up their first win of the season, a 5-4 against the Bull B, they were 3-0 down after the pairs as well!

The Old Endeavour beat the Boars Head C 6-3, Brandon Maryland and Tony Lewis hit 180s, Andy Maryland checked out on 113 and John Hughes finished on 106.

Overall this week it was not a good night for the Boars Head, all four of their sides lost. I am sure they will all get back to winning ways soon!

BLOGS ARE BACK

I cant believe where the time goes, it really does fly, maybe its because its such fun.

First of all a huge thank you to the whole league for their fantastic support during the end of last season, with all the knockouts and of course the fantastic pro night with Scott Mitchell. I have loads of photos to upload which I aim to have up by Friday. You can see them via our Facebook page as well.

I will also aim to finalise the accounts for last season and the pro night over the next few weeks, these will be published online. What I can say in advance, is that with the sponsorship and the great support from the DWMC the pro night did make a small return to the league, which I think personally means we will look at bringing the 15th pro to Dover next year.

At the start of the new season we had two new sides enter the league, Hairy Crown and the Crown Smiffys, we welcome these two new sides which do have a couple of face you will know, but on the whole these two sides are also new players to the league. We have however had one side pull out early doors in division one, DWMC A.

As we are two weeks in, the blog will be a general catchup, starting in division one with Ryan Lucas of the Old Endeavour who hit three 180s in his sides match against the Hairy Bull. However, they lost 5-4 in a game which had the whole pub enthralled. Graham Gosling of the Hairy also hit a 180.

The Hairy followed that first week win with a 6-3 defeat against the DWMC B. The workies have actually started with two wins on the bounce, they beat the Phoenix Maddogs 7-2 in week one.

The Diamond won their first two matches as well, they beat the Real Diamonds 7-2 and the Bull B 9-0. There matches have included 180s from George Clarke and Wayne Venes, and a 110 checkout from Mark Clayton. Jim Yarwood hit a 134 checkout against the Diamond for the Real Diamonds.

The Boars Head C had a mixed start to the season, they were runners up in division two in the summer campaign, finishing behind the Bull B. They beat them 7-2, but lost by the same margin against the Dewdrop Oast. Jason Davey hit a 180 for the Boars Head C in week one.

The Bull A have started the season with two wins as well, they beat the Boars Head Arrows 6-3 and the Real Diamonds 9-0. Bull A 180s so far have come from Paul Perkins, Lee Ware and Tony Selby, and Ben Tester checked out on 116.

The Boars Head Arrows did bounce back from the defeat against the Bull, they beat the Phoenix Maddogs 7-2. Arrows big hitters so far this season have been Blake Manton checking out on 116.

Over highlights have been 180s from Kerry Burdett of the Real Diamonds and Jordan Earl of the workies.

In division two, four sides are unbeaten. The Admiral Harvey A who have beat the Bull Dogs 7-2 and Phoenix Rising 7-2. The Crown & Sceptre who have won against the Boars Head A 5-4 and the Carriers B 9-0.

The Diamond C, like the Harvey A were relegated from division one, but soon got round to winning ways. They have beaten the Carriers B 7-2 and the DSAA Hope by the same scoreline.

Newly promoted Three Cups are the final side to start with two wins, they beat the Bull Dogs 6-3 and the Admiral Harvey B 5-4.

The Boars Head B have lost both their opening games 5-4, against the Phoenix Rising and the DSAA Hope.

Tilmanstone bounced back from an opening game defeat against the Harvey B with a 5-4 win against the Boars Head A.

Three big checkouts so far in division two, 102 from Wayne Anderton, 110 from Kev Thorp, the biggest from Karl Fagg with a 113.

And then we have division three, with three sides starting with three wins. Phoenix C were relegated from division two, they have started with 7-2 wins against the Crown Smiffys and a win by the same margin against the DSAA Misfits.

The Hairy Crown have beaten the Sportsman 8-1 and the Phoenix St Pauls 5-4. The final undefeated side is the Nelson, they have a 5-4 win against the Sea Lions and a 6-3 against the Carriers A under the belt.

The Old Endeavour had an opening day win against the Sportsman, Carriers A beat the the Northern Diamonds 8-1 on the first night. The Northern Diamonds bounced back with an 8-1 win against the DSAA C.

New side Crown Smiffys beat the Old Endeavour 5-4 this week, and the DSAA C won 5-4 against the DSAA Misfits.

That rounds up the first couple of weeks, we will be back to weekly blogs this Friday.
