Week 2 – 14.04.2017

Week two of the Dover Invitation Darts League, and I start with some exciting news that this week a new website will go on line. This will bring us nicely up to date with modern technology, allow the site to be viewed on mobile devices, tablets and laptop.

A huge thank you to Jim Clarke who you will probably all recognise from the Facebook page or from playing his darts in the past from the Angling Club, with the team moving to the Carriers this season.

Jim has built the site template ready for us to upload the vast history that we now hold, so it is going to take a while to get it all up to date. As we learn the site capabilities more and more over the coming months it would be great to add the Sunday and Thursday Leagues to it, maybe I can even convince the ladies league to provide some information so we can have a real website for all darts in Dover.

If you see Jim around, make sure you say thanks!

Ok, this weeks darts.

The Three Cups in division three look a strong side, they won for the second time this season, this week an 8-1 win against the Nelson. The Carriers B are the only other side to have two wins out of two so far, they beat the DSAA C 9-0, bob Belsey hit a 171, a maximum on the 19s.

The Carriers A ere 5-4 winners against the DSAA Wanderers, The Eagle Drifters won 6-3 in their first game of the season. The final game of the night in division three was a 5-4 win for Phoenix St Pauls against Northern Diamonds.

In division two three sides have started with two wins so far. Boars Head A, Bull Dogs and the Admiral Harvey.

The Boars Head A won 7-2 against the Phoenix C, Graeme Clewlow checked out on 144, the Bull Dogs won 6-3 at the Three Cups and the Admiral Harvey won 5-4 against the DSAA Hope.

Phoenix Rising won 5-4 against the Boars Head B, and there were big wins for the Bull B and the Boars Head C, they both won 7-2 against the Tilmanstone Welfare Club and the Crown & Sceptre respectively.

In division one the DSAA Oast had a cracking 9-0 win against the Admiral Harvey. The Bull A and the Boars Head Arrows were both 7-2 winners. The Bull beat DWMCA, the match included a 110 checkout for Tony Selby and a 180 for Ash Battie. The Arrows beat the Crown Maddogs.

The Old Endeavour came from behind to beat the Diamond 5-4 and the Hairy Bull won by the same margin against the DWMC B. There were two 180s for Dave Heath and one for Ryan Short, both of the Hairy.

Finally, the Diamond C beat the Real Diamonds 5-4, I am informed that if Teresa Brown had not hit double top they would have lost, but this might be a ploy to get her name in the blog, so I have added it just to put a smile on her face.

New season underway

And we are off, another season of darts is underway!

As you are all aware we have undertaken a little restructure which means that we now have three divisions, which means that we have less byes in the league.  This may mean in the future that the league is more difficult to get in to as we only have space for one more team and we will always prioritise you, our current teams.

I personally think three divisions is the best for the league.

On with this weeks darts.

In divisions one the biggest winners on the night were the reigning champions, who are now playing from the Old Endeavour.  They beat the Diamond C 8-1.  The match included three big finishes, 143 from John Hughes and a 118 and 100 from Ryan Lucas.

The Boars Head Arrows picked up a 7-2 win against the Admiral Harvey B, the same score line the Diamond recorded against the DWMC B.  Wayne Venes hit a 180 for the Diamond in this game.

The Bull A beat the Crown Maddogs 6-3, Tony Selby hit a 100 checkout for his new side, the Bull A.

Another side that had moved venue is the Oast Cottage, they are now playing from the Angling Club.  They lost this week 6-3 against the Hairy Bull.  Dave Heath checked out on 114, Dean Marsh and Steve Roberts both hit 180s.

The final game form division one was a 5-4 win for the DWMC A against the Real Diamonds.

There was a cracking start to the season for the Boars Head A, they beat the Boars Head B 6-3, there was a 180 for Dave Buddle and a 118 checkout for Tony Kemp the A side.

Darren Swinnerd of the Phoenix Rising hit a 180 in their 5-4 defeat against the Phoenix Rising, and Barry Bulluck also hit a 118 checkout for the Bull B, but his side lost 5-4 against the Crown & Sceptre.

The Admiral Harvey B beat the Boars Head C 5-4, the Bull Dogs beat the DSAA Hope 6-3 and the final match of the night in division two was a 6-3 for the Phoenix C against the Three Cups.

On to division three and Billy Bristow was great finish form, a 148 for the Three Cups new side, beating the Phoenix St Pauls 6-3.

The Sportsman were big winners, they beat the DSAA C 8-1, the Northern Diamonds matched that score with a in against the Old Endeavour.

The battle of the Carriers went in favour of the B side, which use to be the DSAA A.  They won 5-4 all on the final game.

Last, but not least, the Nelson were 6-3 winners against the DSAA Wanderers.

Happy Easter!

After 18 weeks of darts, we have reached the end of the Winter campaign, with many of the movers and shakers finally decided this week.

These results mean that that the Admiral Harvey B are relegated along with the Malvern.

In division three the the Crown & Sceptre are champions, they beat the Sportsman 6-3.  They are joined in division two by the Boars Head B, who are promoted despite losing 6-3 against Phoenix St Pauls, because the DSAA Hope lost 5-4 against the Phoenix C.

The Phoenix Rising won 6-3 against the Tilmanstone Club.

The Phoenix St Pauls and the Sportsman are both relegated from division three.

Division four, the Carriers Arms beat the Nelson A 6-3, however the Nelson are champions as the DSAA Wanderers lost 8-1 against the Eagle Drifters.

The second promotion spot has gone to the Northern Diamonds, they beat the Old Endeavour 6-3, and they jumped above the Wanderers.
